Ely Cathedral Wedding AND Celebration at The Old Hall


Megan and Mina’s wedding at the breathtaking Ely Cathedral was an unforgettable day full of elegance, emotion, and celebration. As a wedding photographer for Ely Cathedral, I’ve photographed many beautiful ceremonies, but few backdrops can compete with the sheer grandeur and timeless beauty of this incredible venue. Ely Cathedral is truly one of the most iconic wedding locations in Cambridgeshire, and the perfect setting for such a special couple. The day began with a relaxed morning — I was with Megan, her bridesmaids, and all the excitement of the bridal preparations, capturing some beautiful, genuine moments as everyone got ready. At the same time, my second photographer was with the boys, documenting all the fun, laughter, and final suit adjustments. Having two photographers meant we could tell the full story of the day, from both sides.


Ely Cathedral – A Dream Location for a Wedding Ceremony


The ceremony inside Ely Cathedral was simply stunning. As an Ely Cathedral wedding photographer, it’s always a privilege to work in a space so rich in history, atmosphere, and jaw-dropping architecture. The light streaming through the tall stained-glass windows added a magical touch to every frame. Megan and Mina’s vows echoed through the ancient stone, witnessed by their loved ones in one of England’s most majestic cathedrals. After the ceremony, guests gathered outside for a joyful confetti throw, with the magnificent cathedral towering in the background. It was the perfect opportunity for some relaxed, candid moments — the kind of storytelling photography I love.


Wedding Reception at The Old Hall Ely – A Perfect Celebration Venue


From there, we travelled just a short distance to The Old Hall Ely, a superb venue with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside — and yes, you can still see Ely Cathedral in the distance. As a Cambridgeshire wedding photographer, I always appreciate how this venue perfectly complements the grandeur of the cathedral while offering a more relaxed, celebratory space for the reception. The evening was as beautiful as the day, with soft clouds glowing at dusk and the cathedral silhouetted in the background. We took full advantage of the evening light for some romantic couple portraits in the gardens of The Old Hall. Later, the party kicked off — and wow, did this crowd know how to party! Laughter, dancing, great music, and a warm, joyful atmosphere filled the night. Being a photographer for Ely Cathedral weddings and receptions at The Old Hall is always an honour. This wedding was a true reflection of love, style, and celebration, and Megan and Mina made it all look effortless.
